Veterans Dinner | Video

Julie Leonardi | 11/12/2012

The Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary makes it their mission to preserve the memory of veterans, and this weekend was no different.

For the past 30 years, the VFW honored Minot Veterans by holding a dinner in their honor. Last year the dinner was cancelled due to the Mouse River flood, and this year, Mother Nature had her way again. The turnout for the swiss steak dinner was very small, when usually a bigger turnout is expected.

Adeline Guy, VFW Ladies Auxiliary local secretary, said, “The nursing home could not come because their bus got cancelled due to the storm. We usually have a real good turnout; dinner is served until it’s all gone. That usually happens quite early, whereas last night we had plenty left over.”

Guy said the group was disappointed with this year’s turnout, but looks forward to having next year’s dinner in the newly renovated club.
