Staying Warm in the Car | Video

Alex Hagan | 11/14/2012

Road conditions are tough enough during a blizzard, but getting stuck is even worse. It`s important for drivers to be prepared for any situation during severe weather. Red Cross employees say you should have a winter survival kit in your car.

That means having flashlights, food, and water along with ways to keep warm.

"Make sure you have some warm blankets, warm clothing, anything weather appropriate you think you might need. Mittens, hats, boots that type of thing. It`s good to keep those things in your car if you do have to travel," said Red Cross Executive Director Jessica Gilbertson.

The Red Cross offers survival kits. Workers say it`s important to let someone know where you`re going if you travel in a blizzard.
