Students Give Input on School Design | Video

Kristin Clouston | 11/15/2012

Some Bismarck students are giving their input on how the new high school should be designed. Architects from the DLR Group say they want to create a student-centered environment, so they`re showing focus groups videos of three award winning high schools and asking what concepts they`d like to see in Bismarck.

Students say they want to see more technology, spaces that incorporate the arts and easy access to classes.

"I`d rather have it wider than built up. Because going up and down the stairs gets so clustered and it gets to be a lot. Like with a 30lb backpack that a lot of kids are carrying around," said BHS junior Kendra Hellebest.

The architects will take input from the students, teachers, administrators and community members as they start on their conceptual drawings.
