Chris Torgeson, education director at Zion Lutheran church in Minot, helps with the project every year. She says it doesn`t take much to fill a box.
"Some of the things that you can put in the boxes are school supplies, toys, go to the dollar market, and there are wonderful things."
Once you fill a box, you can bring it to Zion Lutheran. From there, the boxes are shipped to 12 different countries. You can even track your box to see where it goes by printing out a label for shipping. You’ll get an e-mail back saying what country your box went to.
These children don`t have much, and being able to open a box during the holiday season is a huge deal for them. Torgeson urges Minot residents to bring filled boxes by tomorrow.
“For these kids to receive these boxes is an absolute blessing to them, these kids have absolutely nothing, sometimes these school supplies allow them to go to school, otherwise they would not be able to go to school.”
Torgeson said she’s impressed by the generosity of this area.
