"I think it`s pretty awesome because it shows how much they care about us. It shows they care a lot about us," said student Brendon Metzger.
High school students lent a hand where ever they could, and the entire staff pitched in.
"One of our most awesome custodians is making gravy. If there`s anything that quells the heart of a seasoned Thanksgiving cook is the gravy," Dyk said.
One hundred twenty-five people gobbled up the meal and everything was made from scratch.
"We are an alternative school and we do things our own way and our own way is real," Dyk said.
The students from life education also joined in. They made the fruit salad and green bean casserole.
"I haven`t met anybody yet from South Central. I only met people that I go to school with, so what I`m thankful for today is meeting new people," said life education student Vedrana Hodzic.
Students kicked off "Pay it Forward" month at the dinner. They`ll spend the next few weeks doing service projects throughout the community.
As one of their projects, the students will be teaching elementary children the importance of helping others.
