More Road Projects for Minot | Video

Rene Thibault | 11/28/2012

Minot`s Finance and Improvements committee has voted to accept bids on two new road projects for the city. One of them is the 13th Street Southeast Reconstruction Project. Because of new developments, the dirt road is torn up and rough to drive on.

The second project is on the west side of town. Contractors will fix a constant erosion problem on Elk Drive. With so many extra vehicles in the area, it`s no surprise that the roads need constant upkeep.

“Western North Dakota just in general sees a higher percentage of truck traffic. That truck traffic does have impacts on the roads, more than regular traffic. And just the building, and how fast everything`s being built, those concrete trucks, those lumber trucks, those gravel trucks, they definitely have impacts on the road,” said Matt Petron, the City’s Assistant Engineer.

Both projects will begin spring of 2013.
