Main Street Minute: Peggy`s Gift Shoppe | Video

Sarahbeth Ackerman | 12/3/2012

For Peggy Beach, downtown Main Street is more than her business, it`s her second home. Beach`s family owned and operated the Parker Suites Hotel and it is where she got her start as a gift shop owner.

"They wanted a gift shop in a location that was the bar and I was in college. So I just kinda just did it. So I went to a gift show and set it up without really having a gift shop before and I kinda put it together and it`s evolved," she said.

Beach has turned the hotel gift shoppe into her own business of 35 years.

"I guess I learned a lot about business just by doing it, all my life and I guess I worked retail."

Even though years have passed since Peggy worked in the Parker Hotel, she`s still reminded of the memories just across the alley.

"Well it`s weird, cause the Parker is right behind my building right now, so it`s like five feet away and it`s like I started there so many years ago."

Peggy`s Gift Shoppe has one-of-a-kind gift items and even has a couple of lines that are exclusive to her shop.
