Abduction Attempt | Video

Sarahbeth Ackerman | 12/7/2012

Minot police are looking for a suspect after an attempted abduction at Walmart last night. When officers arrived on scene, the female victim said that she was leaving work a little after midnight when an unknown white male got in the back seat of her car. The man placed his hand over her mouth and held a sharp object to her neck.

The victim was able to get away and run back inside the Walmart. The suspect is described as a white male in his twenties or thirties, approximately 5-8 to 5-10 with a slender built. The suspect`s vehicle believed to be a mid to late 80`s Chevy S10 extended cab pick up.

Meantime, Minot police are trying to raise awareness of how to protect yourself if you`re ever faced with this type of situation.

"When you are walking from one place to another check your back seat and realize that your door isn`t always just locking right away, you need to actually lock it depending on what type of locking system you have on your car doors. And if you feel a threat or any kind of suspiciousness, don`t even put yourself in that environment to start off with, retreat and maybe back peddle and call the police," said Margie Zietz, Minot PD Crime Prevention.

If you have any information about this case, call the police at 701-852-0111.
