Williston Police Looking for Teen Runaway | VideoEvan Kruegel | 12/10/2012
Jordan Weeks has now been missing for six days, and police say she could be practically anywhere.
"She`s originally from Montana, so she could be anywhere between here and her original home," said Detective Cory Collings with the Williston Police Department.
Weeks was last seen at the Williston Juvenile Assessment Center. It`s not entirely clear how she was able to escape, but police are leaving no stone unturned in their search to find her.
"I`m hoping she`s right in Williston, that`s the last information we have is that she`s here. So who knows if she`s out and about, or if she`s having friends make runs for her whether its food or whatever it is," Collings said.
Collings says juvenile runaways are often harbored in the basement or bedroom of a close friend, sometimes unbeknownst to the household`s parents. To make sure this isn`t happening, Collings has been in contact with local parents, asking them to double check that they aren`t unknowingly harboring the runaway.
"Twenty minutes ago I was talking to a parent, and ten minutes ago I was talking to a friend. So we`ve got a few avenues and hopefully something will come up."
Upon being found, Weeks could face charges for being an unruly child, but for the time being, the department just wants to find out where she is.
"We want her safely found, that`s the big thing for us."
Collings says anyone who hides or helps a runaway could face criminal charges. If you have any information on Weeks` whereabouts, please contact the Williston Police Department at 701-577-1212.
