Coping with a Military Loss | Video

Amy Fox | 12/13/2012

As two North Dakota National Guardsmen are laid to rest, there are programs in place to help soldiers cope with a loss. The National Guard`s number one goal is soldier health. This includes physical and mental health.

Losing a friend and fellow soldier in the line of duty is all too familiar for North Dakota National Guardsman Nicholas Clark.

"The loss of a soldier is a drastic loss of the company and the soldiers around it,” explains Clark. “Everybody deals with it in personal ways, but the North Dakota National Guard has actually been on the forefront of developing certain programs for individuals who need additional help coping through these situations."

A total of 26 North Dakota National Guardsmen have died in the line of duty since 2004.
