MAFB Schools Resume Normal Operations After Morning Lockdown

| 12/20/2012

School operations are back to normal after a lockdown was issued at the Minot Air Force Base this morning. A telephone threat was made this morning against the head start facility. Minot school superintendent Mark Vollmer temporarily initiated the lock down for all Minot Air Force Base schools.

The lockdown has been lifted. However, the head start facility is closed until further notice. Base officials are continuing security sweeps and will have security at Dakota Elementary, North Plains Elementary and Memorial Middle School today and tomorrow.

School officials in Fort Yates started their Christmas break early after receiving a tip about a threat. Other schools in Minot and across the country have also been dealing with similar rumors.
