End of Days? | Video

By: Rene Thibault | 12/21/2012

We are almost through December 21, and we`re all still here. The End of Days theory that`s attached with this day has to do with the end of a cycle on the Mayan`s Long Count Calendar. It was created more than 5,000 years ago, and marks the Winter Solstice. An event where the sun will align with the center of the milky-way galaxy.

Conspiracy theorists believe that this alignment could cause catastrophic changes to our earth and eventually lead to the end of days, but North Dakotans are pretty skeptical of the hype.

“No, but it`s kind of still something to make you wary I guess. But I don`t think anything is going to happen, I hope nothing`s going to happen,” said Minot resident Ian Carlson.

Scientific research has shown that the Mayan culture did not attach any end of the world significance to 2012. But in fact celebrated the end of their calendar.
