Stockings for Newborns | Video

Rene Thibault | 12/24/2012

The birth of a child during the holidays is already a very special miracle, but Trinity Health has found a way to make it even more memorable. Nurses at Trinity`s Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit have donated Christmas stockings to babies born throughout the month of December. Every newborn is given a stocking and a Christmas tree ornament decorated with their name, birthday and footprints.

Trinity has already donated almost 100 stockings. Employees say its programs like this that remind them why they love their jobs.

“I think it kind of reminds us as nurses, the job we do. We kind of stand back and realize, it`s an awesome job to have. To bring these babies into the world and seeing them all cute in little stockings. You just have to smile and love it, and love your job,” said Kayla Thomas, an assistant manager with the hospital’s labor and delivery unit.

Every newborn delivered at Trinity Hospital is also given a hand-sewn baby cap from the hospital`s auxiliary unit.
