There are more people packing their bags and hitting the road for Christmas. According to the travel site Trip Advisor, 45 percent of Americans traveled either by car or plane to get to their holiday destination. Which was up from 42 percent from last year.

Minot is also following that trend.

"People now are being able to afford flights. In our location probably in North Dakota in general because its such great driving distance to get anywhere. I`m assuming that`s why a lot more people fly. Plus we have such an influx of out of state workers they`re trying to get back home to another state so it makes it more convenient to fly," said Minot airport director Andy Solsvig.

Minot International Airport has a decreased schedule for Christmas so some crews could spend time with their families. The airport was down three flights today.
