Historic Missouri River Maps Published

| 1/8/2013

For the first time, maps of the Missouri River that were created over 150 years ago will be made available to the public. The State Historical Society of North Dakota has published Lieutenant G.K. Warren`s 1855 and 1856 Manuscript Maps of the Missouri River. The portfolio, containing 39 maps, is available at the North Dakota Heritage Center Museum Store in Bismarck.

Each map includes details on the river channel, sand bars, vegetation growing along the valley floor and the bluff lines. They also indicate streams, towns and villages.
