Flu Concentrations

According to the North Dakota Department of Health 1,077 cases of influenza have been reported in the state, Over 450 more than reported last week. Outbreaks have been reported in long-term care and assisted living facilities across the state, which often is an indicator there are outbreaks of flu occurring in those communities.

According to the Department of Health, the cases reported are only a small portion of the people who actually have influenza in the state.

Complications of flu and pneumonia contribute to the deaths of nearly 400 North Dakotans annually, most of whom are older than 64. However, a large number of flu cases occur in children younger than 10
