Building Permit Help | Video

Alex Hagan | 1/27/2013

The city of Dickinson continues to set record numbers when it comes to construction. City leaders say more than $400 million in building permits were issued in 2012, a record breaking year.

That kind of growth has put a strain on city employees. The City of Dickinson has now contracted with a local engineering firm to help. Kadrmas Lee and Jackson will help develop a set of formal policies and procedures to help the permitting and approval of infrastructure projects in Dickinson.

"We`re reviewing the policies and procedures in some of the surrounding communities in our region, including Williston, Minot, Bismarck, Fargo and Rapid City, to see what policies and procedures those communities here in place as they`re dealt with similar growth like Dickinson`s experiencing," said Craig Kubas from Kadrmas Lee and Jackson.

City leaders say they expect another record breaking year for building permits in 2013.
