One Step Closer to Another Shelter | Video

Amy Fox | 2/7/2013

With the growing number of homeless people in Minot, one shelter is not enough to keep up with the influx of people. After the 2011 flood, a group of organizations and community members got together to form the Welcome Table. Together, they`re trying to find a building to house a 25 unit shelter for men, women and children.

Now, the group is one step closer to putting a plan in place.

"We`re looking at two buildings in the community,” explained Welcome Table member Niels Anderson. “We got the financing in place to be able to move forward. The financing doesn`t cover everything, but we can purchase the building."

If the group decides on one of the existing buildings, they will move forward with the project. They hope to have the shelter up and running in 12-15 months.
