EPA Approves Certification for Proposed Biorefinery

| 2/8/2013

The Enviornmental Protection Agency gave the green light with plans for a ethanol refinery near Jamestown. The EPA has approved a renewable fuels certification for the proposed Dakota Spirit AgEnergy refinery.

The proposed refinery is planned to be built adjacent to Great River Energy’s Spiritwood Station power plant near Jamestown and Spiritwood. The plant will be capable of producing about 65 million gallons of ethanol per year.

“I am pleased that this EPA regulatory review has been completed and that the project can now move forward,” said Governor Jack Dalrymple. “The biorefinery will provide another market for locally grown corn, it will create jobs and it will serve to further diversify our growing state economy.”

North Dakota’s Industrial Commission provided a grant for the project’s feasibility study.
