Minot Man Arrested on Drug and Firearm Charges

A traffic stop in Minot this weekend turned into a felony arrest. Police stopped a vehicle driven by Brian Sweeney, 46, Saturday evening for a vehicle equipment violation.

During the stop, officers smelled marijuana in the vehicle. Officers then used a police dog to sniff the vehicle for controlled substances.

Sweeney was arrested for possession of meth with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a school; possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of schedule III controlled substances. Sweeney was also charged with felon in possession of firearm, loaded firearm in motor vehicle and concealed weapon.
