She explained, "It was intended for teenage girls, and teenage girls do love the books. But I`ve found that a wide range of people love it, especially the community members in Edgeley. You know there`s this elderly man and he sent it to his daughter and his granddaughter. But everyone loves it. I think it`s because of the North Dakota roots that everyone can enjoy it."
The story take place in a small town called Edgemont, and the characters are a lot like her and her family.
"The mom in the book is my mom every aspect of her. Sara in the book has two brothers, I have two sisters."
She says writing is fun, but for her it`s also an outlet and a way to grieve.
"My dad died of cancer when I was nine and that was the biggest thing and it still affects me today."
Her main character, Sara, also loses a father and shares her emotions in a sequel called "Never Forget."
Sonni added, "I actually lost my second novel halfway through it and had to start over, writing."
Now she`s an English major and writing a third book. "I`m finding time because so many people want to know what`s going to happen to Sara, and I wanted to finish it because this trilogy has really meant a lot to me."
Sonni plans to keep writing and hopes to make it a lifelong career. You can find the books on www.amazon.com.
