Ward County One Step Closer to New Building | Video

Amy Fox | 2/21/2013

Plans for the new Ward County administration building and jail expansion are still being hammered out. The Ward County Commissioners and Citizen Committee met today to discuss blueprints for the new administration building and jail expansion.

The 65,000 square foot, three story administration building will hold county departments. Commissioners also discussed the possibility of putting the county library on the first floor. If needed, a fourth floor could be added.

With all of the commissioners now on the same page, it seems plans are ready to move forward.

"All we`re doing is expanding that and making it more detailed and making sure all the parts fit together and making sure all of the department needs are met and that`s kind of where we are today,” said Don Davison, JLG Architects. “I think we`re getting very close to that final solution. It`s kind of an ongoing process that we continue to develop and get more detailed."

Several designs for the jail expansion were also discussed, but nothing was decided. The group will meet again on April 4.
