Trinity Heart Health Fair | Video

By: Julie Leonardi | 2/26/2013

Trinity Hospital put on a heart health fair Tuesday evening in the Town and Country Center in Minot.

Booths lined the hallways with brochures and samples, along with free blood pressure and cholesterol screenings. One of the booths deals specifically with women and heart disease, and shows 7 steps to protect you. While another shows that prevention is key for heart related issues.

“Eating right, exercising, monitoring their glucose, monitoring their cholesterol levels, their blood pressure, and we`re able to do all those here today for folks, so that they know if they`re having high blood pressure issues or if their cholesterol is high so if they know they have those risk factors that they can monitor them and take care of them.” Said Jerilyn Alexander, Stroke Stemic Coordinator at Trinity.

Alexander said a new grant will pay for heart monitors in all ambulances in North Dakota. This means the paramedics can see the damage to the vessels right away, and have the cardiologist prepared when they arrive at the hospital.
