Head Start Headaches | Video

Kristin Clouston | 3/5/2013

Head Start Programs across the nation are having to deal with immediate funding cuts, but one program in our area has a little more time to plan. Funding cuts are dependent upon grant cycles, since West River applied for its grant money in October instead of September it`s covered for the next six months.

Director Joey Kolosky says parents still have a lot of concerns. "We`re doing our best to relieve their stress to let them know their kids are fine for the rest of the school year. They will have a classroom to go to and their will be teachers in the rooms from now until the end of the school year."

Congress can still fix the five percent across the board funding cut and will be revisiting the issue on March 27.

The BECEP Head Start Program at Richolt is still waiting for an official notice from the government before it makes any formal decisions.
