WAWSP Maps Now Online | Video

Evan Kruegel | 3/7/2013

When finished, the Western Area Water Supply will benefit close to 100,000 people throughout western North Dakota, but only a portion of the pipeline has been built so far. Those waiting to see when the Western Area Water Supply Project will reach them can now see projection maps online.

The maps are still being finalized, but updates can be seen on the Western Area Water Supply website at wawsp.com. To view the maps, click on the Project Map link on the front page, and then select the portion of the map that fits your region.

Director Jaret Wirtz says 400 people originally requested rural water service from the project when it was unveiled in 2010. That number has now grown to nearly 17,000. Authority officials are currently awaiting the legislative results of two appropriation bills that will decide how much additional money is placed into the project.
