Last night, Minot Police responded to a report of a 19-year-old male who was found huffing an aerosol spray, but he had left his home before officers arrived.
Police are trying to raise awareness of the dangers of intentionally inhaling volatile chemicals.
Senior Patrolman Aaron Moss says products like hair spray and cleaning supplies are only for their intended purposes. It`s against the law when they are improperly used. "In fact, there is many cases that even one use has resulted in the death of the abuser."
Intentionally inhaling a chemical out of a compressed aerosol can is a class B misdemeanor. If a person is guilty of this crime, they could face up to 30 days in jail and up to a thousand dollars in fines.
