Pipeline Bill Passes | Video

Jennifer Joas | 3/19/2013

More than 2,000 miles of pipeline were put in the ground in 2011. The state says that rapid pace needs to continue to meet the growing energy demands.

That`s what legislators are trying to make sure of in the State Senate. They approved a pipeline corridor bill, that would allow pipeline companies to make slight variations in the approved route at the landowner`s request.

This will help keep the construction process on track, instead of versus halting construction while the public service commission re-approves the project.

"Landowners were pleased that the process will provide more flexibility to negotiate route deviations and that it will be part of the solution regarding the natural gas flaring issue that we have in this state," said Senator Randall Buckhard (R) from Minot.

The bill unanimously passed the Senate. It will now go to the Governor.
