3rd Annual Camping Show in Williston | Video

Evan Kruegel | 3/22/2013

Coate`s RV kicked off their 3rd annual Camping Show this afternoon at the Raymond Center. The event showcases dozens of Rv`s, free food, and trout fishing for the kids... But it`s also an interesting gauge of the housing crisis in the Bakken. Last year, event organizers saw a mix of not only people looking for a recreational vehicle, but people looking for a full time home. They sold numerous campers to people who said they intended on living in them full time. But shortly after the show last year, the city placed a moratorium on all Rv`s and campers inside city limits. R.V`s are still abundant in the county, but organizers say far less people are looking to buy campers as a full time home.

"We will see some of that. One of the things we`ve noticed for this years show, is it`s far more camping people. But we do still get the people that need places to live. This market has changed a little bit, there`s not as many people looking at RVs for residences as of now, that very well could change at any time with an influx of more people", said Coate’s RV General Manager Dutch Deick.

The show runs until 8 tonight, tomorrow from 10 to 8, and Sunday from noon to 5
