In Class A, the Minot Vistas are going for their second state title in the last three years.
The Vistas enter the tournament as the fifth seed - right in the middle of the field.
They`ll face a familiar foe, the Bismarck Governors.
The teams have played four times this year.
Bismarck took three of those games, but the Vistas won the last one against the Govs.
"Both teams are very familiar with each other," head coach Todd Larson says. "We know their personnel, they know ours. They know our managing style. We kind of know their style. It`s an interesting, intriguing match up opening round. We`ll have to go out there and see who the better team is on Wednesday."
"You gotta go down there with like three things in mind: we gotta play defense, we gotta hit the ball, and we gotta have good pitching," outfielder Braden Lysne says. "I mean, the match up doesn`t really play that much into what we want to get done.
"State tournament - that time is - it just matters whatever team is the hottest at the time," outfielder Austin Maercklein says. "So if we can go down there and play with the intensity that we`ve been known to have in the past, I think we can do really well."
The Vistas play the second game of Wednesday`s first round in Mandan. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
