Marauders Media Day | Video

Lee Timmerman | 8/10/2012

Football, Volleyball, Cross Country and Soccer were all talked about during media day at the University of Mary. The highest profile from that list is football and the Marauders will have a little different look. Head Coach Myron Schulz showed off the new logo for the helmets as they get ready to start their 25th year at U-Mary.

"It`s precious for me! I`ve been here the whole time. I know all the players, all the coaches and if there`s a win one for the Gipper speech or a big win I was here. I watched all of the uniform changes, the facility changes as the whole program grows. It`s home for me and it`s neat."

The Marauders return the majority of players from one of the top offenses in the country. Craig Bagnell to Tyler Steffan should prove to be an excellent combo again.

"We have a lot to live up to but all of us offensive players we are excepting that challenge. We wouldn`t have it any other way. We lost some key guys off of last years team obviously but we`ve also got some younger guys and some transfers ready to step up and make a name for themselves," Steffan said.

The Marauders have more work to do on the defensive side, but one of the linebackers, Mike Ingemansen says it looks worse that it actually is.

"We lost eight starters and return three but what a lot of people don`t realize is with the way our defense operates we rotate a lot of D-lineman and linebackers so a lot of guys got experience last year that weren`t starters so I don`t think it`s a rebuilding year as people might say losing eight people but I feel like we got a lot coming back with a lot of good experience.

The Marauders open September 1in St.Paul. We`ll have more from the other programs next week.
