The Panthers have just five seniors on their 36-man squad.
Rugby will be led by returning all-stater Kyle Lovcik.
The senior was the team`s top rusher last year despite playing just half the season at tailback.
The Panthers hope his presence in the backfield helps open up the passing game a bit.
"We hope to be in the mix so we can think we have a chance at a playoff spot," head coach Scott Growchow says. "But again it`s going to be one of those things, are we going to progress or not? I think we`ve got a chance, but we`ve got some work to do."
"You just gotta focus - focus on the goals and what you want to accomplish," Lovcik says. "It`s pretty much all up to you. Just stay focused the whole season."
The Panthers start with a game against Class A Harvey-Wells County a week from Friday at 7 p.m.
