Titans Return Key Players | Video

Lee Timmerman | 12/11/2012

The Dickinson Trinity Boy basketball team returns the core group of players that helped it reach the Region 7 finals last season. The Titans lost just three games all of last year and two of them were to state champion Beulah. Trinity again boasts one of the stronger defensive teams in Class B which should help them get to the 20 win plateau in consecutive years.

"We`re going to get in your face. We`re going to guard you 84 feet. If we can get the balance on the offensive end and our offense has been a little slower this year than normally has been but as soon as that starts to come around I think then it very difficult we have a goal of keeping teams under that 45 point range. If you keep them under 45 points, you are going to give yourself a chance to win I don`t care who your playing," said coach Gregg Grinsteinner.

"It starts on the defensive end. Let that transfer over to the offensive end. That`s where we`ll get a lot of our points," said senior Jacob Volk.

On offense, the Titans have one of the tallest starting lineups in the area. The team plans to utilize its post player`s often including seniors 6` 3" forward Isiah Binstock and 6` 7" center Jesse Kubik.

"We`re an inside out offense where basically we want the post to get a touch every time and we feel that our offense runs more smoothly when we get post touches to where you can kick out and score and throughout the years. Thats What they`ve done and Trinity has had success doing that," Kubik said.

"We have so many threats on the offensive end. It`s kind of hard to matchup with us in size. We`re 6 foot and up from the starting five and we have a 6 footer coming off the bench so I find it pretty hard to match up," Binstock said.

It`s tough to talk Titans basketball without mentioning Volk. Volk comes off a season in which he led the team in scoring and was named second team all-state.
