Class A Wrestling Poll | Video

Lee Timmerman | 12/13/2012

Judging by the latest Class A wrestling coaches poll, the power is beginning to shift to the east. Just two individuals from the Capital City are number 1 ranked individually. One of those is an obvious choice, Ryan Blees at 160 pounds. The Bismarck junior is chasing a three-peat this winter.

"Ryan coming back as a two time state champion is significant for the guys that are younger in the room to look up to and he is a great leadership example. He works hard in the room. He works hard outside of the room so for him to go out there and set the pace in a tournament also besides what the kids see in the practice room they can see how he handles himself out there on the mat, his confidence, his preparation that comes through," said Bismarck Co-Head Coach Scott Knowlen.

Blees will face one of his biggest tests this week at the Minnesota Christmas tournament which is tomorrow and Saturday in Rochester.

The second Capital City wrestler ranked number 1 is Landon Schmidt of Century. West Fargo is, without question, the team to beat. The Demons and Patriots are next with Dickinson, also in the top 10.
