Demons vs. Patriots | Video

Lee Timmerman | 2/1/2013

Both teams are unbeaten in West Region duals this season, so tonight`s wrestling match between Bismarck High and Century will for the number one seed at this month`s state tournament. The reason why that`s so important is it will put you in the opposite of number one ranked West Fargo.

The Patriots are ranked third in Class A, while the Demons are second. Each team has athletes who have made major improvements this season.

"We`ve had a lot of great leaps and bounds through Hunter Bondeson at 160 pounds. He`s on fire right now. He`s wrestling hard. His technique has come around. He`s gotten a lot stronger. Nate Humann down at 113 has done some great things for us this year. Shawn Greenwood, who`s actually wrestling up a weight at heavyweight, he`s done great things for us there. We have kids rising to the challenge and it`s great to see. It`s great to be a part of," said Century head coach Jerald Lemar.

Bondeson may have the biggest challenge tonight. He should match-up against top ranked Ryan Blees. Blees is a wrestler who his coach says had honed all aspects of the sport.

"Early it used to be his bottom wrestling that needed to get more focus but he`s tough to ride now so he`s pretty much a polished wrestler in all three phases on the top, on bottom and one his feet," said Bismarck co-head coach Scott Knowlen.

The BHS Karlgaard gym is where these rivals will wrestle at the top of the hour.
