Main Street Minute: Marketplace Foods

We all know that Minot is changing and with every change, some businesses may need to adjust their stores to better serve their community.

"The Minot we've known and loved for the last 25 years is changing," said Ralph Towery, Area Director at Marketplace Foods.

With the growth in the area, that invites some new faces.

"We've got more people coming in from the larger cities and stuff like that. So, we haven't had a lot of concern, but we do have some concern," said Towery.

With that being said, Towery decided one of the factors to ensure safety in all of his grocery stores, is to no longer be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"We just felt it would be better closing at midnight. Giving our crew time to focus on getting from truck onto the shelf. And, then re-opening with better store conditions for the next day," said Towery.

In addition to the changes of shopping hours, they're also installing security cameras and brighter lights for the parking lots.

They're also close to opening another Marketplace on North Hill, which will be their fifth store in Minot. "Currently we're on task to open in June, that's what we're shooting for. And, we'll find a way to make it happen," said Towery.

Although Minot is changing, Towery said his staff is excited about all of the new projects going on in their stores.

The original Marketplace will open at 5:00 a.m. and will close at midnight. The other locations will open at 6:00 a.m.
