Don't Buy It, Until We Try It: Perfect Pancake Pan

Posted: Updated:

Sometimes, making pancakes on the griddle can be messy and take a lot of time. And if you don't keep an eye on the cakes, they end up sticking to the pan. Well, there may be an easier way to make your favorite pancakes.
In this week's "Don't Buy It, Until We Try It," I tried out the Perfect Pancake Pan.

When you go to make pancakes, you usually end up with big cakes, small cakes or even cakes that are not the perfect size at all. Well, this may work a little better for you. It's called the Perfect Pancake Pan. All you have to do is cook, flip, and serve.

But, will it really help you make those perfect cakes? Well, "Don't Buy It, Until We Try It."

It's breakfast time at Charlie's Main Street Café in Minot. At the grill, the pancakes are beginning to take shape, but they seem to have a mind of their own.

"Sometimes it comes out way too big. And, yesterday, for one instance, was bigger than any plate that I've ever seen. And, something like that, I can't serve it to customers. So, then, I ate it all," said owner Geewon Anderson.

As Anderson explains, it's very common to waste pancakes in the kitchen because they don't come out in the perfect shape or size. So, we decided to put the Perfect Pancake Pan to the test.

"I think it would give you the perfect shape that is one thing. But, I never used it. So why don't we use it and see what happens?" said Anderson.

After reading through the instructions, we greased each of the pancake molds with non-stick cooking spray. Then, it was time to fill the molds with batter and put on the stove.

Anderson said, "It will supposedly rise a little bit and then we can flip it over. And, meanwhile, you can put blueberries and chocolates and anything you want in the pancake."

After flipping the Perfect Pancake Pan over and taking a quick peek, it was clear something went wrong.

"I think I made a mistake," said Anderson. "I need to put sticky stuff on. It got burned. This is not good."

We didn't have such good luck with the first round of pancakes. We only sprayed the bottom of the pan. "But, I think we need to spray to top as well because we're not ready to give up on the perfect pancakes just yet."

Once again, we loaded the pancake molds with batter and put them on the stove.

Anderson said, "I'm going to go ahead and flip it."

Some of the batter came out of the side of the pan.

"I flipped it way too early," said Anderson.

Once the pancakes were fully cooked, it was finally time to take a look and find out how we did.

"Perfect," said Anderson. "I think it can really be fun making stacks of pancakes rather than just one or two big size pancakes, especially somebody that is not a pro."

Now, it's time to dig in. So, this week's "Don't Buy It, Until We Try It," earns a thumbs up.
