Williston Police Say Kentucky Man Tried to Rob KFC

Posted:

Williston Police responded to KFC early Wednesday morning to reports of a man smashing a sledgehammer against the roof.

"Orders were given to stop. The suspect jumped off the roof, and a foot pursuit resulted in a taser being deployed, resulting in the arrest of a Kenneth Bailey," said Detective David Peterson.

Bailey, a 21-year-old from Kentucky, has been charged with criminal attempt burglary and criminal mischief, both Class C felonies, but numerous other charges could be forthcoming.

Detectives are now questioning Bailey's involvement in a rash of burglaries that hit the city in early April, involving both Pizza Hut locations, J.C Penneys, Arby's, and the downtown movie theatre.

The tool of choice in those cases? A Sledgehammer.

"Detectives pull the case files, and we'll go through each one of those burglary case files and just look at the evidence from those burglaries and see if it is related to Kenneth Bailey or the methods that Kenneth Bailey used," said Peterson.

Either way, it's a sizeable arrest for the police department.

"It is a large arrest for the Williston Police Department, especially if we can see if there are connected or related burglaries."
