Host Families Needed for Babe Ruth World Series

Posted: Updated:

In a little less than 2 months, Williston will be home to the 2013 Babe Ruth World Series.

Regional Champs from the U.S. and Canada are in the tournament, and tournament organizers are still looking for a few families to host kids.

This isn't the first time Williston has hosted the Babe Ruth World Series. The city played host back in 2003. During that tournament, Seth Coughlin and his wife decided to sign to host 2 kids.

"We were assigned two kids from Staten Island, New York, and we just hit it off immediately with the kids," said Seth Coughlin.

The parents of the kids came a few days later, and the rest as they say is history.

"We've gotten together every year at least once a year, in New York or in Williston, or in Las Vegas, or Denver for a baseball game, wherever it happened to be we always made it a point to get together with the kids or the parents," Coughlin added.

Aafedt Stadium is getting the final touch ups before the tournament kicks off on August 17th. Coughlin says if you're considering hosting kids, do it.

"If you don't have kids in the world series itself, you honestly take these kids on as your own kids. You get behind the team, and you get made part of that team," Coughlin added.

Host families also get family passes for the World Series, so there is no cost to get into the tournament.

"It can absolutely turn into a lifelong experience, and it's what you make of it," added Coughlin.

In March Coughlin went to the wedding of one of the kids he hosted back in 2003.
