State Fair Hotel Availability

Posted: Updated:

We're just a little more than a week away from the North Dakota State Fair, and for many fair goers that means finding a place to stay.

And, with more hotels in the area, are there any rooms left?

From North Hill to South Hill, hotels are going up everywhere.  And, with the North Dakota State Fair quickly approaching, there's a great need for rooms.

"We've filled numerous rooms," says Staybridge Suites general manager David Bussard.  "We have some availability later in the week, but the first weekend looks to be a banner weekend."

With all of the new hotels in the area that means more rooms.  But, as Howe explains, most of the vacancies should be filled by the start of the State Fair.

Visit Minot executive director Wendy Howe says, "We are encouraging people to make reservations now.  We are getting closer and closer to the event, and the number we have available are going to get less and less."

And, while there may be a few more rooms this year than last at this time, it may be a better market for last minute travelers.

"You know with over 30 hotels that are open in Minot, there's just so many more rooms that more people are more confident that they are going to get a room," says Bussard.

But, what about the rates?

Howe says, "We are finding hotel rates have definitely dropped a little bit in comparison to what they were last year and the year before.  During busy times like the North Dakota State Fair and other major events, like any other community that has a major event, hotel rooms do increase a little bit."

For a complete list of available hotel rooms, visit www.visitminot.org.

The list is updated several times a week, but during the fair, the list will be updated on a daily basis.
