Dickinson Gets New Air Ambulance

Posted: Updated:

Crowds of people showed up to Dickinson State University to see the city's first and only air ambulance.

"We really feel like the spirit lifeline helicopter will go a long way to providing that critical access, timely movement of patients to the Dickinson and surrounding areas in Western North Dakota," says Rob Hamilton.

Spirit Lifeline is working in collaboration with St. Joseph's hospital and will have air-staff with years of professional training that know how to work under pressure.

"Here it's not so much a go, go, go mentality. It's a safety, safety, do it right and do it slow. So I just had to gear back but I had all the skills given to me from the US army while flying in Iraq," says pilot Robert Faratti.

Other staff members who are from the area are proud to see how far Dickinson has come as a city.

"I'm just happy to be the hometown girl that's been offered an awesome opportunity with this company to come back here and work with people that I grow up with. Words can't even explain," says flight nurse Jeanette Lyon.

Now, on every flight mission that the helicopter goes on, there are three people who will always be present. A registered nurse, a paramedic, and of course, the pilot.
