Tire Flipping Fundraiser for Veterans

Posted: Updated:

Members of the Minot Air Force Base and the Magic City came together today for a unique fundraiser.

Staff Sergeants Cody Lytle and Josh Heidemann created an event to raise money military veterans with disabilities.  Teams of three are taking turns flipping an 800 pound tire from the Base Gate to ASK Fitness, almost 11 miles away.  The group expects the event to last anywhere from 18 to 24 hours averaging 6 to 10 tire flips per minute.  All of the proceeds raised will go to the Cleb McClary Evangelistic Association. From there, the money will be given to veterans in need.

"To do this for him is spectacular.  We weren't in Vietnam going through that hardship.  At least we can say we're going through a hardship here flipping this 800 pound tire for 10.7 miles for him and everybody else who cannot do this for him," says Staff Sgt. Lytle.

Anyone still interested in joining the tire flipping event can contact Staff Sergeant Lytle at 240-506-0984.  It only costs five dollars to help flip the tire the rest of the evening.  The 800 pound tire is scheduled to be on display next Friday at the North Dakota State Fair.
