Mandan Schools Lose Federal Funding

Posted: Updated:

Mandan schools are losing $90,000 in federal funding for Title 1 and Title 2 programs, but will be able to use some of its own money to help pay for them.

"We've received guidance from DPI that says if we want to maintain programs we used to have we are allowed to use local dollars to do that, so we can consider doing some of that. We did reduce one full-time teacher at Fort Lincoln School because of cuts in title one. The rest of our schools have been able to maintain staffing numbers we've had until this point," says assistant superintendent Jeff Lind.

The school board also approved hiring Steve Quintus as Mandan High School's assistant principal. Quintus has been the principal at Killdeer for the past 17 years.
