Main Street Minute: Koo Koo's Nest and Bisman Food Co-op

Posted: Updated:

There have been plenty of new women's apparel stores opening with a traditional brick and mortar location in Bismarck and Mandan over the past few years. And now one more is entering the market. But this one is on wheels.

After spending time in Los Angeles, Kinzey Whitty came home and decided to open Koo Koo's Nest, a mobile fashion truck. It's a converted bookmobile, and it has been getting a lot of attention.

"I think a lot of people enjoy the concept, it's something new, it's something exciting, something they've never experienced before.  It's a unique shopping experience," says Whitty.

The truck is available to book for private events and parties, and will also be set up at things like the Street Fair in downtown Bismarck this fall.

And the Bisman Food Co-op is starting to see the fruits of their labor.

The group is working to open a food co-op in the city. And to bring attention to their efforts, they've put out 17 tomato plants in Bismarck as a living billboard. People can water the plants and help care for them, and then pick the tomatoes when they are ripe.
