Local Law Enforcement Puts in Overtime for NDSF

Posted: Updated:

The North Dakota State Fair attracts thousands of people every year, so local law enforcement will be working overtime to help keep the grounds safe.

A total of 20 officers and deputies from the Ward County Sheriff's Department, Minot Police Department, Surrey Police Department and Ward County Reserves will be patrolling the fair grounds every day.

No weapons will be allowed inside the grounds or grandstand, and bags will be searched before entering.

Ward County Sheriff's Department says safety for guests is their priority.

"We have some assistance from a Minot Air Force Base group that helps with the searches of patrons coming to some of the concerts, the deputy's do assist them with that. We assist with security inside the concert and backstage, then on the midway and the rest of the fairgrounds all at the same time," says Captain Robert Barnard, Ward County Sheriff's Department.

Captain Barnard says the fair is for people to enjoy themselves, but if they do see any suspicious activity, report it to an officer.
