4-H Keeps Youth Busy at State Fair

Posted: Updated:

It's been a busy week for 4-H kids at the North Dakota State Fair.  Youth from around the state have been competing in a variety of shows and contests.

4-H is an organization that prepares young people to step up to the challenges in their community and world.

North Dakota native Haley Anderson has been involved in 4-H for eight years now, showing cattle and hogs.

From washing to feeding, raising livestock has taught her many life lessons, including responsibility.

But, it doesn't matter if she wins a blue ribbon or not, it's something she enjoys doing.  She says the ribbon is just an added bonus.

"It makes you feel proud because I know that my hard work has paid off," explains Anderson.

The 4-H lineup for the rest of the fair includes dairy and goat shows Friday morning and a round-robin showmanship on Saturday.
