Main Street Minute: Sonic

Posted: Updated:

Whether it's grabbing some food or driving to work, we're always the go. So the idea of food delivered right to your car sounds perfect right?

"It's somewhat of a fast cash concept that you come in here and casually dine. We're not fast, fast, fast. But, we're fast enough," says Abe Sakak, President and CEO.

Sonic is a quick service restaurant that offers an extensive menu including hotdogs, burgers, and shakes.

One of the cool things about Sonic, is you can pull up in the parking lot and order your food right from your car. And, they'll come out and deliver it for you. It also makes you feel like you're stepping back in time.

"All people like things from the past. And, folks are really intrigued with the way this used to be. This is exactly what 50's, 60's years ago used to have," says Sakak.

But the North Dakota weather didn't stump this drive in restaurant.

"We gave it a new solution. It's called the winter solution. And this is it. Normally Sonic's don't have this room that you are in. We created this because of this cold weather," says Sakak.

So, you can enjoy Sonic all year round without worrying about those frigid temperatures.

Normally Sonic will be open from 6am to midnight.

But right now, they're doing something called soft opening. This means to get their employees up to speed, they'll be opened from 9am-9pm.
