The Future of Minot

Posted: Updated:

In the last five years, Minot has experienced 20 years of growth.  And, as the city's population continues to grow, the big question is how to maintain the same quality of life?

And, that was the topic of discussion today at the Minot Area Development Corporation's annual meeting.

The theme for today's discussion was "The Next Chapter: Uncharted Territory."

"Economic development is very important," says Kathy Aas, incoming MADC President.  "It's a strategic process.  It just doesn't happen by itself.  We have a focus and a strategy to work."

North Dakota Senator John Hoeven says, "With dynamic growth, and, we're now, the fastest growing state in the nation, come challenges.  And, that means we've got to have housing.  We've got to have roads.  We've go to maintain that quality of life that we've always had, here, in North Dakota.  And, so, this is something we have to commit ourselves to.  It's going to take a lot of work.  It won't be solved overnight, but we've got to stay with it."

Currently, there are more than 20 projects going on in Minot that are either $100 million in capital investment or cover 100 acres of land.
