Home of Economy Expands

Posted: Updated:

The oil boom in Williston has brought many changes to the community. Home of Economy is expanding its store to help meet the needs of the growing population.

Home of Economy's inventory has shifted. Employees say the expansion was driven by the need to keep oil gear constantly in stock.

"We keep getting more and more product to cater to the oil field workers and we're running out of space, so they decided to expand the store," said Floor Supervisor Elizabeth Douglas.

"The expansion is coming from the range of people now moving to the area because of all the work and industrial needs. They need people and they need people who are going to be ready to work the next day and that's what we help them get to," said Head of Customer Service Jessica Prescott.

Business has been booming for the store, and they say they don't expect it to slow down anytime soon.

"In fact at this point I can't keep enough boots in stock. Every time I bring in a new brand and hope that its good enough it's just not," added Douglas.

A tunnel was created to continue to provide shoppers with comfortable access to the boots and clothing departments during the remodel.

"They built the tunnel as a beginning part of the remodel so that customers would be able to shop at the same time and get from the boots area is over to here without having to go outside to go  through separate doorways. They did it so people could still shop while the remodel was going on," said Home of Economy Employee Heidi Wilson.

The construction is expected to be done by October or November.
