St. Alexius Hospital Receives Prestigious Award

Posted: Updated:

A Bismarck hospital has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense. Saint Alexius Medical Center received the Pro Patria award for its working relationship and service to active National Guard members.

Dr. Gordon Leingang nominated the hospital for the award, based on his experience as an employee of the hospital and as an active member of the Guard.

"Saint Alexis does a lot of things offline that a lot of people don't know about for the members of the guard. They are always the first to step up and help out to do a fundraiser for wounded warriors or for the homeless in Bismarck. And a lot of that stuff they don't get recognized for but I was determined that they would be recognized for being as good to us servicemen as they are," says Dr. Leingang.

Dr. Leingang says the hospital sent medical supplies, toys and medication to help build up medical facilities in Baghdad on one of his tours.
