Two businesses in a building still under construction at the 500 block of East Main Avenue are now open. Other businesses are taking advantage of the space they already have to expand.

Bombshell Salon has been open for business for less than a month, and is already making a name for itself.

Owners Chad and Amanda Faass said they loved what was going on in the downtown area in Bismarck, and were eager to open their own hair business in the newly constructed Gulch Block building.

"We really wanted to separate ourselves differently just by our look and our service that we provide and the overall experience so we wanted to do more of an upbeat style than more of a spa feel," says Bombshell Salon Owner, Chad Faas.

The salon also offers spray tan and wax services. The theme is vintage modern.

One floor below is Montana Furniture and Mercantile. This is the second location for the Minnesota-based store, and Vice President of Operations John Severson says the business-friendly climate of North Dakota attracted them to the area. He bills the store, which is part furniture store, part art gallery, and part antique store, as an experience.

And a popular downtown deli is looking for more seating. Lucky Duck's Deli and Catering is planning a two-story addition with two extra patios that will include a bar called The Pond.
Food will also be served. The Pond will be connected to Lucky Duck's, but will also have a separate entrance.
